Day 1: Arrival at Islamabad

Welcome to Pakistan! Upon your arrival at Islamabad Airport, our friendly staff, easily recognizable by their company cards or logo, will greet you and transfer you to a comfortable partner hotel nestled near the serene Margalla Hills. Please ensure your flight details are provided in advance. If you arrive late, rest assured that any payments and briefings will be conducted in Skardu. Take this day to unwind and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Scenic Flight to Skardu

Your morning begins with an exhilarating flight to Skardu, the gateway to the majestic Karakoram Range. As you soar over the towering peaks of the Himalayas and Karakoram, breathtaking views unfold beneath you. Upon landing, our staff will guide you to a welcoming partner hotel, where you can relax and explore the vibrant town of Skardu, known for its stunning landscapes and rich culture.

Day 3: Acclimatization and Exploration in Skardu

Today is dedicated to acclimatization and exploration. Skardu, a town framed by imposing mountains along the Indus River, offers an opportunity to stretch your legs with a hike to the historic Kharpocho Fort, offering panoramic views of the valley. Wander through Skardu's bustling bazaar, where you can pick up last-minute trekking gear like crampons. Meanwhile, our team will take care of the necessary paperwork, ensuring everything is in order for the journey ahead.

Day 4: Jeep Drive to Askoli Village

The adventure truly begins as we embark on a thrilling 5-7 hour jeep journey to Askoli Village, the final settlement before the K2 Base Camp or Gondogoro la trek. The drive winds through the lush Shigar Valley and along the rugged Braldu River, offering glimpses of traditional village life against a backdrop of towering peaks. Tonight, you'll rest in a well-serviced camp, surrounded by the tranquil beauty of Askoli.

Day 5: Trek to Mongron (Korofon)

Your trek to K2 Base Camp begins with an invigorating two-hour walk to Korofon camp, where the Biafo Glacier meets the Baltoro River. The journey continues toward Jhula camp, offering the first stunning views of Bakhordas Peak, a prelude to the awe-inspiring mountains that await. Tonight, you'll camp under the stars, with the sound of the river lulling you to sleep.

Day 6: Trek to Paju

Today's trek to Paju camp takes you deeper into the Karakoram, where the rugged beauty of the landscape unfolds with every step. As you traverse this challenging terrain, you'll be rewarded with magnificent mountain vistas that make the effort worthwhile. The Paju camp, nestled amidst this grandeur, offers a restful stop for the night.

Day 7: Trek to Khoburse

The journey continues onto the Baltoro Glacier, one of the world's longest glaciers outside the polar regions. Today's trek reveals jaw-dropping views of the Trango Towers, Uli Biaho, and Paju Peak. After a 4 to 5-hour trek, you'll enjoy a lunch break at Liligo before reaching Khoburse camp, perfectly situated along the right edge of the glacier. Here, you'll camp for the night, surrounded by the silent majesty of the mountains.

Day 8: Trek to Urdukas

An early start today leads you across the rugged terrain of the Baltoro Glacier to Urdukas camp. As you trek, the breathtaking views of granite spires, including the famed Trango Towers and Uli Biaho, will accompany you. Urdukas is the last campsite before the glacial camps on the Gondogoro la trek, offering some of the most stunning scenery of the entire journey.

Day 9: Trek to Goro II

Today’s trek takes you through the heart of the Baltoro Glacier. Surrounded by rough moraines and flanked by the towering Masherbrum on one side and Muztagh on the other, the journey to Goro II is both challenging and awe-inspiring. After a break for lunch at Goro I, you'll continue trekking for another few hours to reach Goro II, a windy and cold campsite offering unparalleled views of the surrounding peaks.

Day 10: Trek to Concordia

This is a day to remember as you trek to Concordia, often called the "throne room of the mountain gods." The panoramic views of some of the world's tallest peaks, including the legendary K2, make this campsite an extraordinary wilderness experience. Concordia is a rare convergence of beauty and solitude, offering a chance to reflect on the incredible journey so far.

Day 12: Return to Concordia

Today, you retrace your steps from K2 Base Camp back to Concordia. This reverse journey offers a fresh perspective on the breathtaking scenery, allowing you to savor the stunning landscapes once more. Concordia remains a place of serene beauty, where you can relax and prepare for the return.

Day 13: Trek to Goro II

Leaving Concordia, you’ll begin the journey back along the Baltoro Glacier, revisiting the dramatic landscapes that have become familiar yet no less impressive. Tonight’s camp at Goro II will again offer those incredible mountain views that define the Karakoram experience.

Day 14: Trek to Khoburse

Continue your return journey to Khoburse, where the memories of your ascent will linger with every step. The unique geological formations and towering peaks make this leg of the journey just as mesmerizing as when you first passed through.

Day 15: Trek to Paju

The trek back to Paju brings you closer to the lush valleys below. The change in scenery, from the icy heights of the glacier to the greener pastures, is a welcome contrast, making each day feel like a new adventure.

Day 16: Trek to Mongron (Korofon)

Descending further, you’ll arrive back at Mongron camp. The journey now feels more relaxed, as the hardest parts are behind you. The sense of achievement grows as you make your way through familiar paths.

Day 17: Return to Askoli

Your final day of trekking brings you back to Askoli Village. As you arrive, there’s a mix of emotions—joy from completing the trek and perhaps a touch of sadness that the adventure is coming to an end. Tonight, you’ll camp in Askoli, reflecting on the incredible journey.

Day 18: Drive to Skardu

After breakfast, you’ll board the jeeps for the drive back to Skardu. The return journey offers one last chance to enjoy the stunning scenery of the Shigar Valley. Upon arrival in Skardu, you’ll check into your hotel and have the rest of the day to relax or explore the town at your leisure.

Day 19: Flight to Islamabad

This morning, you’ll take a flight back to Islamabad. The aerial views of the Karakoram Range provide a fitting farewell to the mountains. Upon arrival in Islamabad, you’ll be transferred to your hotel, where you can unwind and perhaps venture out to explore the capital city’s attractions.

Day 20: Departure

On your final day in Pakistan, our staff will transfer you to Islamabad Airport for your onward journey. As you leave, you'll carry with you memories of an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Karakoram. Safe travels!

I did the K2 Base Camp trek with Karakoram Venture in mid July 2023 with 3 my other friends. The journey to K2 Base Camp is challenging but incredibly rewarding, and I would highly recommend it to any adventurous soul!
