Frequently asked questions

When is the best time for a tour in northern Pakistan?

April brings cherry and apricot blossom to Hunza and Skardu. June to September opens Deosai and the high valleys. October delivers autumn colour in Shigar and Khaplu. Murree, Naran and Kaghan stay accessible for most of the year.

Are these tours suitable for families and older travellers?

Yes. Jeep safaris and cultural tours use hotels and guesthouses rather than camping, with short walks rather than full trekking days. Deosai sits at 4,114 m, so we build in a night at lower altitude first. Tell us who is travelling and we adjust the pace.

Do I need a 4×4 for Deosai and the high valleys?

Yes. Deosai, Fairy Meadows and the Shigar to Askole road all require a proper 4×4 with a driver who knows them. A private jeep and local driver are included in every safari we run.

How long does the drive from Islamabad to Skardu take?

Sixteen to twenty hours by road, normally split over two days. Flights take about an hour but are weather-dependent and can cancel at short notice, so we plan a road contingency into every itinerary.

Can you customise a tour to our own dates?

Yes. Every itinerary can be lengthened, shortened or combined, and we run private departures year-round. Use Plan Your Trip and our Skardu team will build the route around your dates and pace.
