The Fairy Meadows Trek is Pakistan’s most accessible 8,000m mountain experience — a 5-day journey to the famous alpine meadows below Nanga Parbat (8,126m), the world’s ninth-highest mountain and one of its most dramatic. No technical climbing equipment, no high-altitude permits and no prior trekking experience required — just a willingness to walk through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery on Earth.
Fairy Meadows
The meadows of Fairy Meadows (Joot, 3,300m) earned their poetic name from the first German mountaineers who discovered them in the 1930s. A vast, perfectly flat green shelf of alpine meadow sits directly below the colossal south face of Nanga Parbat — the Rupal Face, the highest mountain face on Earth at 4,600m of vertical relief. The view from the meadows of Nanga Parbat rising above you is one of the most breathtaking perspectives available to any trekker in Pakistan.
Nanga Parbat Base Camp
From Fairy Meadows, a further 2-hour walk leads to Nanga Parbat Base Camp (3,600m) — the starting point for all ascents of the Rupal and Raikot Faces. Base camp sits directly below the mountain’s immense rock and ice walls. This is the world’s most accessible 8,000m base camp — no glacier crossing, no technical terrain, no acclimatisation days required.
