Terms & Conditions

1. Acceptance of Terms

By booking any trek, tour, or service with Karakoram Venture, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions in full. These terms constitute a binding agreement between you (the client) and Karakoram Venture (the company), a registered adventure travel operator based in Skardu, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. If you do not agree to any part of these terms, please do not proceed with your booking.

2. Bookings & Deposits

A booking is confirmed upon receipt of the required deposit and signed booking form. Deposits are non-refundable and cover permit applications and administrative costs. The remaining balance must be paid 30 days before departure. For bookings made within 30 days of departure, full payment is required immediately. We accept bank transfers (SWIFT/Wise) and cash in USD or Euros on arrival in Islamabad.

3. Cancellations & Refunds

Cancellations must be submitted in writing to info@karakoramventure.com. Our cancellation policy is: 60 or more days before departure — full refund minus the non-refundable deposit. 30 to 59 days before departure — 50% refund of the total amount paid. Less than 30 days before departure — no refund. If Karakoram Venture cancels a trip due to force majeure, unforeseen safety concerns, or government travel advisories, a full refund or date transfer will be offered.

4. Travel Insurance

Comprehensive travel insurance is mandatory for all clients on Karakoram Venture treks and tours. Your policy must cover: high-altitude trekking to at least 6,000 metres, emergency helicopter evacuation, medical treatment and hospitalisation, trip cancellation and interruption, and personal liability. You must provide your insurance policy details before departure. Karakoram Venture accepts no liability for costs arising from a client travelling without adequate insurance.

5. Health, Fitness & Medical Requirements

Clients are responsible for ensuring they are in suitable physical health and fitness for the trek or tour booked. By booking, you confirm you have no medical conditions that would prevent safe participation. Karakoram Venture guides have the authority to remove any client from a trek if, in their professional judgment, continuing would pose a serious risk to that client or others. No refund is given in such circumstances. We strongly recommend consulting your doctor before any high-altitude trek.

6. Permits & Documentation

All trekking permits for restricted zones, including the Baltoro Glacier and its approaches, are obtained by Karakoram Venture on behalf of the client and are included in the package price unless otherwise stated. Clients are responsible for obtaining their own valid Pakistani tourist visa before arrival. Karakoram Venture provides a Letter of Invitation (LOI) to support the visa application. Any additional documentation required for entry to Pakistan is the client's sole responsibility.

7. Liability & Responsibility

Karakoram Venture takes every reasonable measure to ensure the safety and wellbeing of its clients. However, trekking, mountaineering, and adventure travel in remote high-altitude regions carry inherent risks. By booking, you acknowledge and accept these risks and agree that you participate at your own risk. Karakoram Venture, its guides, and its staff accept no liability for injury, illness, loss, damage, death, delay, or additional expense arising from circumstances beyond our reasonable control — including but not limited to weather, altitude sickness, natural hazards, road or flight conditions, acts of God, or the actions of third-party suppliers. Where our liability is established, it shall not exceed the total amount paid by the client for the booking. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law, and this clause does not affect your statutory rights.

8. Changes to Itineraries

Karakoram Venture reserves the right to modify itineraries, routes, accommodation, or schedules at any time due to weather conditions, natural disasters, road closures, government restrictions, or any other circumstances beyond our control. In such cases, we will make every effort to provide the best available alternative. No compensation or refund is given for changes made due to force majeure or safety concerns.
