The Bari La Trek is a demanding high-altitude expedition through some of the most remote and unspoiled terrain in the Karakoram Range. A pass through a part of the mountains that sees very few trekkers each year — a landscape of raw glacier, ancient moraine and soaring granite peaks that rewards the committed adventurer with an experience of genuine mountain wilderness.
The Route
The trek begins from the Skardu side, following glacier-fed rivers and moraine paths through progressively higher and more remote terrain. The Bari La itself sits at over 5,000m — a high, wind-swept crossing with panoramic views across the Karakoram Range. The descent leads through equally spectacular terrain back toward the valley floor.
Who Is This Trek For?
The Bari La Trek requires excellent physical fitness, prior experience at high altitude (above 4,500m) and a genuine appetite for remote, self-sufficient wilderness trekking. Our Skardu-based certified guides are among the very few who know this route intimately and can navigate its technical sections safely in all weather conditions.
All permits for the restricted zone, porter hiring, high-altitude camping equipment, all meals on trek, satellite phone communications and emergency evacuation planning are fully included.
