This is the jeep version of a desert day: our own 4x4 and driver take you onto the sand properly, dune to dune, with photo stops where the ridgelines stack against the snow. Sarfaranga Jeep Tour Price
From $55 per person in a group of four to six — private 4x4 from your Skardu hotel, the dune drive itself, a local guide and bottled water. Most operators drop you at the edge and leave the jeep ride to on-site vendors; ours is in the price. Add Shigar Fort on the way back — ask us and we combine it fairly.

Is the jeep dune drive really included?
Yes u2014 that is the point of this tour. Our own 4x4 and driver take you across the dune field; you are not handed to an on-site vendor at the desertu2019s edge. Quad bikes, where offered locally, are extra and optional.
How is Sarfaranga different from Katpana?
Katpana is Skarduu2019s desert u2014 closer, quieter, best on foot at sunrise or sunset. Sarfaranga across the river in Shigar is bigger and set up for driving. Petrolheads pick Sarfaranga; photographers often do both.
Can we add Shigar Fort?
Easily u2014 the 17th-century fort and Amburiq Mosque are on the same road. Ask when booking and we price the combined day fairly.
When is the best time?
Any clear day works. Mornings and late afternoons have the best light and the coolest sand; winter brings snow on the dunes u2014 the famous frame.
