The Skardu Deosai Meadow Safari is a 3-day, 2-night 4x4 jeep safari onto Deosai National Park — one of the highest plateaus on earth, averaging around 4,000m. This is Pakistan's finest wildlife country: open Land Cruisers crossing vast wildflower meadows in search of Himalayan brown bears, golden marmots and rare alpine birds, under skies unobstructed by trees or buildings.
Deosai — Pakistan's Premier Safari Destination
Deosai was made a national park to protect the Himalayan brown bear, whose numbers have recovered from fewer than 20 in the early 1990s to several dozen today. The open plateau and its glacial streams make bear sightings more likely here than anywhere else in Pakistan, and marmots are almost guaranteed — their burrow colonies dot the meadows in every direction.
Safari Route
Day 1 — Arrive Skardu (2,500m): Fly in from Islamabad. Walk up to Kharpocho Fort for sunset over the Indus, then a full briefing for the safari. Overnight Skardu.
Day 2 — Full Day on Deosai (4,114m): Climb onto the plateau by 4x4 for a full day among the wildflower meadows and glacial streams. Sheosar Lake (around 4,142m) — a pristine glacial mirror — the hanging bridge, marmot colonies, and a real chance at Himalayan brown bears at known foraging sites near Bara Pani.
Day 3 — Plateau Sunrise & Depart: Catch first light on the upper plateau, then drive back to Skardu (2,500m) for the afternoon flight to Islamabad.

Itinerary — Deosai Plateau Safari
A 3-day safari onto Deosai — the world’s second-highest plateau — for wildflower meadows, Sheosar Lake and Himalayan brown bear country.
3 days
Arrive in Skardu and walk up to Kharpocho Fort. In the afternoon, visit the Shangri-La resort on Lower Kachura Lake, the deep-blue Upper Kachura Lake, and the green Soq Valley before your Deosai briefing.
A full day on the Deosai plateau (4,114m): Sheosar Lake, the hanging bridge, marmots, and a real chance at Himalayan brown bears.
Catch sunrise on the upper plateau, return to Skardu, and fly to Islamabad.
