The Nanga Parbat Expedition (8,126m) is a 42 days guided trip in Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan, topping out at 8,126 m. It is graded Expedition — previous 7,000m experience required — 2–3 days on foot approach each way. 2 fixed departures are open from $16,900 per person, all-inclusive from Islamabad.
Nanga Parbat is the ninth-highest mountain on earth and the western anchor of the Himalaya, standing alone above the Indus with no neighbour anywhere near its height. Its reputation was earned in the 1930s; the modern climb is a different proposition. Our expedition takes the Kinshofer Route on the Diamir Face, the standard line of almost every contemporary ascent, with the crux Kinshofer Wall fixed between Camp 1 and Camp 2.
This is a full expedition run by our own team, the same staff system we run on K2 and the Gasherbrums: high-altitude porters from Baltistan and the Diamir side who work this mountain every season, a sat phone at base camp, daily weather forecasting, and helicopter-rescue arrangements in place before anyone leaves Islamabad. Local hands, real safety, fair price.
It is a serious 8,000er. The Kinshofer Wall is steep rock and mixed ground, the summit day is long, and the mountain makes its own weather. You should come to it with previous experience at or above 7,000m; our Spantik expedition is the right qualifier if you are building toward it.

Our full-board Nanga Parbat expedition is $16,900 per person — peak royalty and permits, liaison officer, road transport from Islamabad, full base camp for the season, one high-altitude porter per climber above base camp, four high camps, bottled oxygen allocation, fixed-rope share and daily weather forecasting. Base-camp-only service for self-sufficient alpine teams is $7,900. Minimum team size four; smaller parties quoted privately.

An expedition needs a Trekking & Mountaineering visa rather than a tourist visa, plus an NOC and a peak royalty. We arrange the NOC and the permits.

Forty-two days, run in phases rather than fixed daily steps: Islamabad formalities, the Karakoram Highway to the Diamir roadhead, a short walk-in to base camp, then rotations through the camps, the weather hold, and the summit push. The days below show the working skeleton; the mountain sets the exact calendar.

A long day north on the KKH along the Indus. Nanga Parbat shows itself above the river gorge before Chilas.
By 4x4 into the Diamir Valley to the roadhead. Loads weighed, porters hired from the valley villages.
The walk-in begins through the last villages and summer pastures below the face.
Onto the moraine below the Diamir Face. Base camp established with the whole west wall of the mountain above you.
The puja, dome and kitchen up, rope and loads staged, medical baseline taken. The climb proper starts here.
Fixed-line and ladder drills refreshed, first loads sorted for the hill while the rope team opens the route.
First carry onto the route and a night at Camp 1, then back down to base camp to recover.
Full rest. Eat, sleep, and let the body build red cells.
The crux of the route: steep rock and mixed ground climbed on fixed lines to Camp 2. A night high, then down.
Recovery at base camp while the forecast is watched and loads move on the hill.
Sleeping at Camp 3 to finish acclimatisation, stocking the high camps on the way.
Waiting. On Nanga Parbat the weather decides, and we move when the forecast says so rather than when the schedule does. These hold days are built into the 42.

Days held in reserve for a second attempt or bad weather, then the route is stripped and everything carried off. We leave the mountain as we found it.
