The Fairy Meadows Trek Express is a 4 days guided trip in Gilgit-Baltistan, northern Pakistan, topping out at 3,900 m. It is graded Moderate — short walk-in to the meadow — 2 days on foot. 4 fixed departures are open from $600 per person, all-inclusive from Islamabad.
The Fairy Meadows & Nanga Parbat Base Camp Trek is the most accessible way to stand face to face with an 8,000-meter giant. In a few short days you leave the Karakoram Highway for an alpine meadow of pine and wildflowers, with the immense Raikot Face of Nanga Parbat (8,126m) — the ninth-highest mountain on Earth — filling the whole skyline. They call Nanga Parbat the Killer Mountain, yet this trek asks no technical climbing of you. It is a moderate walk through some of the most dramatic scenery in Pakistan, well suited to fit first-time trekkers who want genuine mountain wilderness without crampons, glaciers or high passes.
What Makes This Trek Special?
An 8,000m Wall, Up Close: Few treks anywhere put you beneath an 8,000-meter face this quickly — the Raikot flank rises more than 4,500m above the meadow.
Fairy Meadows (3,300m): A green plateau of pine forest and wildflowers, long rated one of the most beautiful campsites on Earth.
The Raikot Jeep Track: One of the most famous mountain jeep roads in the world, climbing from Raikot Bridge to Tato village.
Beginner-Friendly: No technical ground — a perfect first Himalayan trek, or an acclimatization warm-up before the bigger Karakoram routes.
From Islamabad you follow the legendary Karakoram Highway north to Chilas, then ride a 4x4 jeep up the Raikot gorge to Tato. A forest trail climbs to Fairy Meadows, and the next morning you walk on through Beyal Camp to the Nanga Parbat (Raikot) Base Camp viewpoint, the Raikot Glacier spilling from the mountain itself.Related Treks:K2 Base Camp Trek | K2 & Gondogoro La | Snow Lake Trek

What to expect
The highest point is 3,900 m. Most people feel nothing worse than short breath up there, and the pace is set to keep it that way.
You’re ready ifyou walk or hike now and then and can manage a few hours uphill with a day pack.
Give yourself a little longer ifit has been a while since a long walk. A few hill walks beforehand and you will enjoy it far more.
This might not be your trip ifyou would rather not sleep in a tent, or you want a glacier crossing or a high pass. Tell us and we will match you to the right one.
One thing we do insist on: travel insurance that covers helicopter evacuation.
Travel Experience
Itinerary Fairy Meadows Trek Express
A short, scenic trek from the Karakoram Highway to an alpine meadow beneath the Raikot Face of Nanga Parbat (8,126m), the world’s ninth-highest mountain. Moderate walking, no technical ground, and an 8,000m wall for a backdrop.
4 days
Meet the team in Islamabad and start north on the Karakoram Highway the same morning. A long driving day through the Indus gorges to Chilas - no arrival buffer on this itinerary, which is exactly what makes four days possible.
On to Raikot Bridge, then the famous jeep track to Tato, and a walk of about three hours up through pine forest to the meadow. The Raikot face of Nanga Parbat is in front of you before you reach camp.
Up to Beyal Camp in the morning for the closest view of the Rakhiot face, back to Fairy Meadows for lunch, then down the forest to Tato and the drive to Chilas. A full day, and the reason this trip is short rather than easy.
The Karakoram Highway south again, arriving Islamabad by evening.

Why Karakoram Venture
Because the people who take you up this mountain are from it. Our guides grew up in these valleys, and they are our own team — not a booking desk handing you to whoever is cheapest that week. Every one of them is certified by the Alpine Club of Pakistan, holds Wilderness First Aid, and has between five and twenty years on high-altitude ground.
Because the safety is real, and we will name it rather than imply it. A satellite phone travels in every camp, we hold established helicopter-rescue contacts for this region, and we tell you exactly which travel insurance to carry. Budget operators cut precisely these things, because you cannot see them on a web page.
Because the price is honest. Local infrastructure is why $600 per person covers the trip from Islamabad rather than a stripped-down base rate. Exactly what it includes — and the handful of things it does not — is set out above.
